Precious Wood

Ziricote (Cordia)

Ziricote (Cordia)

Zirikote (Ziricote), a Central American tree that reaches an average height of about 25 and a diameter of one meter. The heartwood is deep brown, has light to dark brown grain and black strong stripes. Zirikote dries badly. Sawing, planing and sanding is good.

Because of the sound features, it is also a valued sound wood for musical instruments. It is a very dense and hard wood. Unfortunately, it is quite expensive and especially the pieces with very expressive grain often have defective strains, making it being used mostly for smaller jobs.

Sometimes also i may be wrong, so please let me know if you should find any mistakes! Thank you for your help!
