Precious Wood
- Santos Rosewood
Santos Rosewood
Santos is - if you want to take it very strict - no "Rosewood", but this irreplaceable "Diamond" has a quality in itself and can definitely play in the top ranks of (perhaps now forgotten) timber. Earlier, Santos had a wide scattering from South America to Brazil until after the beginning of the 70s, an export ban was imposed for this timber. Previously, it was often used in furniture, to my knowledge there is no significant use for musical instruments, but the "Little Rosewood" can be worked very well and so often in Spain guitar floors and sides have been built of Santos.
The wood has a wonderful warm reddish-brown clay with very fine continuous grain that goes into the heavily black. Santos Rosewood is virtually non-porous and easy to work! It can also be polished very good.
Sometimes also i may be wrong, so please let me know if you should find any mistakes! Thank you for your help! |
