Pictures of precious wood
Lacewood (Roupala Cordifolia), also known as Elf Wood, comes from a south american tree that belongs to the family of the silver tree plants (Proteus-plants). This medium-reddish-brown hardwood is extremely popular both as parquet wood as also for turning for its attractive grain. It is also often used for smaller jobs like knife handles as the strong pearly mirror yields an expressive image even at small dimensions. Lacewood can be cut well, planing and sanding is moderate. It has good durability and is suitable for turning.
