Pictures of precious wood
Granadillo (Platymiscium Yucatanum), also known as Macacauba is a Mexican hardwood that is especially valued for turning because of its durability and density. Also, it is used for musical instruments. Granadillo can have a mostly red-colored to brown heartwood with black undertones tha occasionally even turn a little violet. The sapwood is very fair to ivory and complements the overall appearance of this fine wood.
Granadillo is often used as a substitute for variants like cocobolo or Honduras Rosewood. It is extremely resistant to fungi and termites, and is also known for its exceptionally high flexural strength.
