Precious Wood

Yew (Taxus)

Yew (Taxus)

The yew (taxus) is the oldest tree in Europe. Even in Greek mythology you will find this very friendly shade tree that had been since the dawn of human history through its dense growth, the resulting hardness and perhaps also the beautiful warm tone of the wood. It still is a valued wood. The wood dries good since it does not disappear. It is quite hard, but you can edit it well. Perhaps also because the yew has found use in all imaginable fields it is sadly today a more rare wood and commonly used small art, by Wood Turners or used in musical instruments. It also could be counted to the "precious woods" nowadays.

Sometimes also i may be wrong, so please let me know if you should find any mistakes! Thank you for your help!
